As Events/Public Affairs Lead at SEMgroup, Denise delivers strategic event planning and management, public relations and training services for clients. A strong communicator with a background in Public Affairs and Policy Management, she is a recognized expert in logistics planning, content development, fundraising and public outreach strategies that yield high-value and efficiently meet targeted outcomes.
Past and repeat clients include the United Nations Association in Canada, the Canadian Union of Public Employees, the University of Ottawa, Equal Voice, political and diplomatic stakeholders, and the Ottawa Bluesfest which earned the Best Event Award from the Ottawa Tourism and Convention Authority.
With credentials and business competencies honed early on as a District Manager for a blue-chip multinational corporation, she has led public symposia and delivered training workshops for organizations including the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration; and shared expert insights as co-host of a global public affairs radio program.
In the community, Denise has donated her expertise as Co-President of the annual Fund for a New Generation funding nutritional breakfasts for 11,000 children in 148 schools; as a Member of the Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa Charitable Foundation Board (YSBCF) and Chair of the YSB 50th Anniversary Gala Committee; and Founder of the annual Vivante Fundraiser in support of the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario. She is currently Vice-Chair of Equal Voice Ottawa, and a Founding Member of the BWCEN.
She is a YWCA Women of Distinction Award Nominee; a recipient of the 2011 University of Ottawa Engagement, Empowerment and Success Award; and the 2011 Community Builder Award from Black History Ottawa.
