At just 17 year’s old, Amy-Beth Ellice is Britain’s youngest baker and is already a published author, with her debut book Amy’s Baking Year sold in WH Smith, Hobbycraft stores nationwide and Harrods where she hosted a signing this weekend. At just thirteen Amy set up her own cupcake and cake business. Quickly acquiring a mass following with celebrities including Katherine Jenkins and Pixie Lott amongst her fans, Amy’s currently working on her second book.
Amy, who first hit the headlines when she was just 13, is the youngest published cookery writer in the UK. She said: “I had so much fun at Harrods at my cupcake decorating demo/workshop and book-signing in Toy Kingdom!
“I’d like to thank the Harrods and WHSmith team for organising such a brilliant afternoon and am so pleased everyone who came had such fun.”
She now plans to write more books. She added: “My dream is to be a TV chef one day.”
Inspired by her mum Gillian, she has been baking homemade cakes and treats for special occasions since she was a toddler and is passionate about the therapeutic benefits of baking.
According to the Express, at the tender age of just 13, Amy set up her own cupcake and cake business and quickly acquired a mass following, inspired by cooking idols including Ina Garten The Barefoot Contessa, Nigella Lawson and Gizzy Erskine. Demand for her cupcakes led to her recipes appearing in national newspapers when she was just 14 as well as a regular column in OK! Magazine.
Following the debut of the “four seasons”, ‘Amy’s Baking Year’ (picture seen below) is a beautifully illustrated book that includes fresh, light recipes for Mother’s Day, Easter and Summer picnics, as well as warming treats for Halloween, Bonfire Night and Christmas.
“From perfect French macarons, fluffy sponges and whoopie pies, to toffee apple jam and cinnamon doughnuts, the book also contains Amy’s highly sought after perfect cupcake recipe which she has baked for countless celebrities”.
