Have you booked your winter vacation yet? This Island Destination Will Pay You $300 to Visit!

It seems 2017 will be an interesting year for travel – with many destinations around the world, including Canada, in celebration mode. The U.S. Virgin Islands is celebrating its 100th birthday in 2017 and is celebrating in style.
Small Tip: The United States Virgin Islands is part of the Lesser Antilles of the Caribbean. The three principal islands – St. Croix, St. John and St. Thomas – are magnificent tropical environments, each distinguished by its own personality.
Visit USVI, the tourism department of the U.S. Virgin Islands, will be giving visiting travelers $300 to spend on the islands, in honor of the American territories’ centennial.
The cash will not help you to actually get there: It has to be spent at the destination (once you arrive) so it can’t be used for expenses such as hotel or flights. The money is meant to be used at cultural points of interest on the islands, in order to help visitors learn and appreciate the history. This includes visiting museums, national parks (e.g. the Virgin Islands National Parks) and other points of interest on the Islands.
To get the deal, you have to book a three-night or more stay thru VisitUSVI.com any time during 2017 at one of the few dozen participating hotels. If you travel during March (the month of the actual centennial), you’ll receive an additional Island souvenir.
– Booking Window: October 1, 2016 – October 1, 2017
– Travel Window: January 2, 2017 – December 31, 2017
– 3-night minimum stay
Visit USVI is also offering a 2016-2017 Family Reunion Package Promotion. Bring your family together in the U.S. Virgin Islands and you will also receive:
– A customized Family Reunion T-shirt featuring your family’s name & Welcome Gift Bag per family member; and,
– $350 in VI Spending Credits for a Family Activity.
