Britain has a new Princess after the Duchess of Cambridge nee Kate Middleton, gave birth to her second child, a healthy baby girl, with Prince William. Prince George’s little sister was born at 8:34 am on May 2nd in the exclusive Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital, weighing 8Lbs 3oz. She is now the fourth in line to the throne and the Queen’s fifth great-grandchild. The newborn was delivered far quicker then her first child – prince George took more than 10 hours to be born.
‘Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a daughter at 8:34am”, Kensington Palace announced on Twitter. “The baby weighs albs 3oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth”.
“The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales & the Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry & members of both families have been informed. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well”.
The birth was overseen by a medical team led by Guy Thorpe-Beeston, surgeon-gynaecologist to the royal household, who was assisted by Alan Farthing, surgeon gynaecologist to the Queen. Both medics were present at the birth of the Prince William and Kate’s first child, Prince George, in July 2013.
It may be a while before the world finds out what the newest member of the royal family is called. What is known is that the Princess will be styled HRH Princess “first name” of Cambridge – just as their eldest is HRH Prince George of Cambridge.
There has been lots of speculation that Diana would be a lovely way to remember Williams mother. Elizabeth, Victoria, Alexandria, Alice, and Mary may all be considered because of their royal connections.
